Regular groups around Northumberland are valued amongst our carers. They enjoy being able to talk freely and without judgement while sharing experiences; as well as the social aspect of meeting friends, taking time out for themselves and having fun.
What’s involved?
- Preparing the meeting room, welcoming carers, ensure new carers are made to feel welcome and ensuring refreshments are available
- Facilitating discussions and where appropriate, referring carers and queries to the Information Team
- Recording data

Getting the word out is a really important part of what we do, many carers don’t even know that they are carers and that they have rights. By helping us to share information and promote carer awareness you will make a real difference.
What’s involved?
- Share our posts on social media
- Identify carers in your local community and signpost them to our services
- Hand out information (leaflets / posters etc) locally and encourage local businesses to do the same.
- Raise awareness
What are we looking for?
- Busy people who can’t commit to a regular volunteering role, but still want to help
- People who are active in their local community
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including listening and observational skills
- Have some knowledge of carers and their rights, or are willing to learn
£27,500 per annum rising to £29,467.91 (pro rata) following successful completion of probationary period (usually 6 months)
22.5 hours per week – Wednesday - Friday
Based at: Central Office, 107 & 109 Station Road, Ashington, NE63 8RS (Hybrid working currently in place)

Carers Northumberland is seeking to appoint a Carer Information and Advice Worker to provide information, advice, guidance, and support to unpaid carers in Northumberland by understanding their needs and supporting them to access services, activities, and groups to improve their wellbeing.
The work we do is incredibly varied, and our staff team come from a range of different backgrounds. We are looking for people with transferrable skills; you don’t have to work in advice already. You should have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and be able to react well to unexpected situations. You will be required to travel to meetings and events throughout Northumberland and due to the nature of the county own transport is needed.
