Housing

Our friendly information and advice team are on hand to help you with any queries you might have about housing.

Working in partnership with Northumberland County Council and Social Housing Providers.

Social Housing

In Northumberland there is a system called ‘Homefinder’ for people looking to move into social housing. If you have any questions about social housing or think your priority banding may be incorrect, we can help you understand the process and support you in making any changes.

Home Aids and Adaptations

Would you or the person you care for benefit from having aids or adaptations fitted? We can help you understand who you need to speak to, the options available and make any referrals needed. Examples of aids and adaptations include; grab rails, stair lifts, bath/shower seats, etc.

Priority Services Register

The Priority Services Register (PSR) provides extra help and additional support during power cuts or interruptions to water or gas supply for elderly, ill or disabled people, or those who rely on power for medical equipment. If you would like to know more about the service or for help to getting added to the register, please get in touch.

Winter Fuel Payment

The Winter Fuel Payment is money from the government paid to people of pension age to help pay your heating bills. In 2024 the government made changes to the eligibility criteria for the Winter Fuel Payment. To check your eligibility or if you have any questions about how to apply, please get in touch.

Cold Weather Payment

You may get Cold Weather Payments if you’re getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest. You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days. For more information and to check your eligibility please contact us.
